Associate Pastor of Students and Families

Position Type: Full-Time | Pastoral Staff
Reports To: Senior Pastor
Position Summary
The Associate Pastor of Students and Families provides leadership, vision, and oversight for the family ministries of Northlake Baptist Church, including ministry areas serving children, students, and young adults from birth through college age, as well as leadership oversight for SKA Preschool. This individual will lead the church’s efforts to disciple the next generation by creating a gospel-centered ministry culture that partners with parents, equips volunteers, and fosters spiritual growth within families. The Associate Pastor of Students and Families will serve as a member of the pastoral staff, supporting the overall mission, vision, and ministries of Northlake Baptist Church.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong biblical leadership, relational and organizational strength, effective communication skills, and a passion for helping children, students, and families grow in their relationship with Christ.
Essential Duties:
Family Ministry Leadership
- Provide overall leadership, direction, and strategic vision for all family ministries from birth through college age.
- Develop and implement a cohesive discipleship strategy designed to support the spiritual growth of children, students, and families.
- Create ministry environments that are biblically grounded, engaging, welcoming, and aligned with the mission and values of Northlake Baptist Church.
- Recruit, train, equip, schedule, and lead volunteer teams across all family ministry areas.
- Build strong relationships with parents and caregivers while encouraging active family discipleship within the home.
- Ensure effective communication regarding ministry events, opportunities, schedules, and goals.
Student Ministry Oversight
- Lead and oversee ministries for middle school, high school, and college-aged students.
- Plan and coordinate weekly gatherings, Bible studies, discipleship groups, retreats, camps, outreach events, and mission opportunities.
- Provide biblically sound teaching that is engaging, applicable, and centered on the gospel.
- Develop student leaders and encourage student involvement in church life and service opportunities.
- Foster relationships with students and families through intentional discipleship and community engagement.
Children’s Ministry Oversight
- Oversee ministry programming for children from birth through 5th grade, including Sunday and midweek programming, Vacation Bible School, camps, and special events.
- Evaluate and implement curriculum that is biblically faithful, age-appropriate, and aligned with church doctrine and ministry objectives.
- Ensure all children’s ministry environments maintain high standards for safety, organization, and volunteer support.
- Oversee ministry systems related to volunteer screening, child check-in, classroom management, and security procedures.
SKA Preschool Leadership Oversight
- Provide leadership oversight to SKA Preschool director.
- Encourage alignment between SKA Preschool and the mission, values, and ministry philosophy of Northlake Baptist Church.
- Encourage a Christ-centered culture among preschool staff, students, and families.
Pastoral and Staff Responsibilities
- Serve as an active member of the pastoral staff team and participate in staff meetings, ministry planning, and church-wide events.
- Support the overall mission and ministry initiatives of Northlake Baptist Church.
- Assist with pastoral functions as needed, including baptisms, weddings, funerals, counseling, visitation, and discipleship.
- Maintain regular participation in the worship and life of the church.
Qualifications and Experience
1. A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and evidence of a growing personal relationship with Him.
2. Demonstrated calling to pastoral ministry and discipleship of the next generation.
3. Strong agreement with the doctrine, mission, and values of Northlake Baptist Church.
4. Bachelor’s degree in ministry, biblical studies, or a related field preferred.
5. Previous experience in student, children’s, or family ministry leadership preferred.
6. Proven ability to lead teams, develop volunteers, and manage ministry programs effectively.
7. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
Personal and Spiritual Expectations

This position requires regular office hours, some evenings and weekend ministry responsibilities.
